Oakdown House, in Burwash Common provides care and support for up to 45 adults across 6 independent units set in 5 acres of beautiful grounds.

Oakdown House is a residential care home for adults with learning disabilities. Established in 1986, we have many years of experience in supporting residents to live a full and valued life as independently as possible. Person- centred care plans combined with key-worker input and great communication enable our staff to develop an awareness of each individuals needs. We support all of residents to fully participate in making choices about their care, within the safety and security of a residential service.

We believe that people with Learning Disabilities should be able to make choices about where and how they spend their time. We will work with the resident and their circle of support to develop an individual activity program that meets their needs. We work hard to ensure that all residents enjoy a full range of interesting, practical and creative activities, in a friendly supportive and safe environment. The day service team provide activities across the whole site so that all residents have access to all activities.

Working with people with learning disabilities is a great career choice. It is a dynamic environment where no two days are ever the same. We employ more than 130 staff in a range of full and part time posts, from support workers to day activities staff to team leaders.

We are able to offer a range of shift patterns from as few as two shifts of eight hours each week to full time. All of our team are offered comprehensive induction training when they start which includes a range of mandatory subjects. We are always interested in talking to candidates from a range of different backgrounds, experience is helpful but not essential for many roles.

We encourage our team to continue to improve their skills throughout their careers, providing ongoing training and access to Diploma qualifications in Health and Social Care. We also offer excellent career progression and remuneration packages.
