Taking residents out on activities makes a difference to their days and puts a smile on their faces. That’s what it’s all about, seeing residents with a bright smile makes my job worth while. Also I have learnt so much from the training that Oakdown provides.”

So I decided to completely shake things up and come to work as a support worker at Oakdown House. And what an incredible, life changing decision this was! In the 2 years I have been here supporting our wonderful residents and working alongside my brilliant colleagues, I feel like I have found myself again, and I have made some friends for life working here too.
Every day is different. Whether it’s supporting residents to go on trips out in the community, attend college or supporting them with everyday tasks at home, I am left with an immense feeling of satisfaction and pride.
